MY JOURNEY

As an international student currently enrolled in the EDUC 5130 – Managing Multiple Systems: Policy and Practice course at Thompson Rivers University, I have had the opportunity to explore the structural and policy dimensions of inclusive education within the Canadian K–12 system. This course has been instrumental in reshaping my understanding of equity, access, and the role of systemic support in educational settings.

I bring with me a strong academic foundation, having completed a Master of Science in Physics, a Bachelor of Science in Non-Medical, and a Bachelor of Education. My journey as an educator began over five years ago when I worked as a physics teacher in India. During that time, I was committed to fostering a supportive and conceptually rich learning environment for my students. However, it was not until I moved to Canada in December 2023 that I encountered a vastly different educational landscape—one that embraces diversity through inclusive policies and multi-system collaboration.

This ePortfolio is a reflective record of my learning in this course. It illustrates how theoretical concepts such as intersectionality, critical pedagogy, and human rights-based approaches intersect with my own experiences and teaching philosophy. Moreover, it offers insight into how I plan to implement inclusive practices as an educator in a global context.

Personally, I am the youngest member of my family. I share a close bond with my parents, my brother, sister-in-law, and my beloved nephew. My family’s constant encouragement has empowered me to pursue my academic goals and adapt to a new country and culture. The emotional and intellectual growth I’ve experienced in Canada, especially during my final semester at TRU, has been both humbling and empowering.

Through this ePortfolio, I hope to demonstrate not just academic insight but also a deep personal transformation driven by this course and my lived experiences as a learner, teacher, and global citizen.
